“An older woman was living with her daughter, who cared for her. Her daughter passed away. Her granddaughter came to help and discovered her grandmother did not have a bed and was sleeping on the floor plus her apartment was a disaster. While her granddaughter is working to get her grandmother’s affairs in order, CAPGAL purchased a bed and mattress for her. The agency that CAPGAL partnered with sent this message, along with her picture:

“B.B. and our team want to thank you for blessing this lady. She was in a really bad situation. With your help, we were able to get her out of this situation. If it’s okay, would love to send a photo of her so you can see how awesome CAPGal is and how happy / grateful she is for you!”


“A couple moved to the island to live their dream, relocated their jobs and wanted to live in paradise. Shortly after, the husband was diagnosed with cancer, lost his job and subsequently their vehicles and other "luxuries" that the wife's income was unable to sustain. During the Christmas season, CAPGal was able to provide them with funds to use for their holiday with their family and feel like things might be okay, even if just for a minute.”


“An elderly woman living in a retirement community has a son that is responsible for her finances. The son stopped paying her rent and has not paid for her prescriptions and APS has been called. However, the woman needs medications prior to this investigation being able to make some other arrangement. CAPGal was able to pay for a portion of what was owed the pharmacy so that they would deliver her next month of prescriptions while APS determines the best course of action moving forward for her.”


"A gentleman whose home recently burned down is in need of prescription cost assistance and would benefit from a local buy in discount program. He is able to stay with family due to his recent loss of housing. CAPGAL was able to assist with this so he could focus his recourses and attention recovering from this tragic situation."


"A homeless gentleman who had been sleeping in his car due to him running out of days at Salvation Army has gotten sick and needs a safer place to say. He has a been approved for Social Security Benefits but will not receive his first payment for another 2 weeks. CAPGAL was able to pay the deposit and prorated amount for a boarding house that will allow him to heal and potentially live a healthy life."


"A young family of 5 living in a garage apartment needs an A/C unit. The husband suffers from a seizure disorder and the wife works as a waitress but hasn't been working as much/making as much because of reduced hours/business due to Covid-19. CAPGAL was able to provide a window unit in order to allow them to live safely through the summer. "

"A gentleman whose primary mode of transportation is a bicycle has heart failure and is no longer able to physically operate a regular bicycle anymore. A e-bike is being offered at an affordable rate but his disability payment does not provide enough for him to afford this. CAPGAL was able to purchase the e-bike for him and allow him to maintain his independence and mobility."

"A recently released from prison gentleman was hospitalized and was no longer able to care for himself. He is able to go stay with family in Fort Worth but has no way to get there. CAPGAL was able to provide a bus ticket for him to reunite with his family and receive the help that he needs."

"A baby in the NICU recently passed away. The family is Catholic and would like the baby to be buried. The funeral home and cemetery have donated a majority of the services but there is a still small portion that family needs. CAPGAL was able to provide the remaining amount in order for this family have their child laid to rest. "


" A mother of 2 fled a domestic abuse situation with her children and are in need of some basic items. She brought the children into a clinic visit in socks because they had no shoes. She has obtained a part-time job and has been in contact with RCC; her first appointment with them is Friday. CAPGAL was able to provide some clothes and other personal items in order to assist them on their way to a new life."
